PERSONAL ASSISTANT
What is personal assistance?

1. Necessary assistance provided by another person in those (ordinary life) matters that a person is unable to do, in whole or in part, themselves due to an injury or illness.

2. An enabler of independent living for a person with severe disabilities.

3. A service that must be granted to a severely disabled person who meets the requirements set out in the Disability Services Act.
Where can I get help and how?
A personal assistant makes everyday life easier, for example by helping with mobility, dressing, assisting with hygiene, cleaning the home, shopping, and dealing with authorities, for example. The recipient guides and advises the assistant and thus acts as a supervisor and, in a certain way, a leader at work.
You decide who assists you, where, when and how. If you wish, you can change the assistant, and we will help you with that.

Mitä on henkilökohtainen apu?
Henkilökohtainen apu sopii sellaisiin arkisiin tilanteisiin, jolloin vammansa tai sairautensa takia henkilö ei selviä niistä yksin. Henkilökohtaisen avun on tarkoitus auttaa toteuttamaan avustettavaa valitsemaan paremmin kotona ja kodin ulkopuolella (esim. töissä, opinnoissa, harrastuksissa, tapahtumissa, yhteiskunnallisissa asioissa, sosiaalisessa vuorovaikutuksessa),jolloin valintojen tekemisen vastuu on edelleen avustettavalla itsellään. Avustajan tehtävä on helpottaa avustettavan elämää niin, että näistä valinnoista tulee helpompia, mukavampia ja nautittavampia.
